Elizabeth Hare was active as an instrument maker from around 1730 to 1741. She managed her husband Joseph Hare’s music shop from around 1725 and succeeded him at his death in 1733. A receipt for the purchase of “a parcel of violin strings” is written on the reverse. Elizabeth Hare’s name also appears on printed music from around 1735 until her death in 1741.
