This hotel prospectus is one of the few documents found within the time capsule. Printed to explain the need for a new hotel in Durham, this pamphlet didn’t hesitate to compare Durham favorably to its neighbors. “From such cities as Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem and other cities boasting modern hotel facilities comes the word that they are enjoying unprecedented convention business as a result of their excellent hotel accommodations. Bear in mind however, these cities have little to recommend them to the convention delegate besides their fine hotel facilities. With Durham, however, we have to offer the convention seeking a meeting place, one of the finest cities of the state. We have a surrounding country rich in historical interest.”
